Richard Muthaka
East Africa Operations Manager
Richard Muthaka was born in the outskirts of Nairobi in a small sleepy village but which now has grown and expanded. His late grandfather was a driver guide in the 1960s and naturally Richard took up the interest by being involved a lot in wildlife clubs in school. After his college studies, he was recruited by a Tour Operator who was running semi-luxury and luxury adventure camping safaris. He was the camp hand – he was placed in the kitchen, building tents, digging pit latrines on camping grounds, building shower bucket bathrooms and accompanying guests on game drives to learn the wildlife and destination routes. Not a lot of people in tours sales have done this and he takes pride in telling his story because this working experience toughened him and prepared him for the then future and present he and his family are living now. He did this for about 4-5 years which prepared him for his main role in Tours sales and operations. He grew his experience and has been handling high end safaris for over a decade. He comes with 18 years experience having traveled all over East Africa and just loves his job. He has a curious nature about him (at some point in life, he actually wanted to be a journalist), loves spending time with his family, is a natural in making new friends, is a foodie and cooks!, loves traveling and is movie fanatic. His biggest passion is to see his guests happy after a safari and give amazing reviews about their experience.
