We invite you to join us on a 14-day photography expedition to the Antarctic Peninsula. We will be chartering the entire ship, M/V Ushuaia, for a photographers-only expedition early in the season with the focus on penguins, seabirds, seals, landscape and ice. There will be a maximum of 74 guests, together with 7 Photo Guides.

Our photo tour dates are early in the season during a time when few tourists and ships are around. The winter months’ after effects will offer landscapes with clean and white backgrounds, while the golden hour will bathe the region in pastel shades of pink and blue, with dazzling sunrises and sunsets of kaleidoscope colours. Time will be arranged for zodiac trips during ideal lighting conditions, ice and weather depending, in order to capture the mesmerising penguin colonies, sea birds, mountainous peaks and ice sculptures.

Photographers Only – This expedition an exclusive photographers-only photo tour, where land visits will be utilised according to lighting conditions.

Destination Allure

The route will focus entirely on the Peninsula found south of the Drake Passage I order to give focus to one particular area in order to leave more time for photography. Less time is spent cruising the Southern Ocean from one spot to another and exclusivity is almost guaranteed from other ships and tourists in the area.

Month of Travel

This Antarctica tour is arranged for early November during a time when few tourists and ships are around but also because it will provide the best photographic opportunities when it comes to light and setting.

Photographers Only

This expedition an exclusive photographers-only photo tour, where land visits will be utilised according to lighting conditions.

Late spring in Antarctica plays host to colourful interactions between Chinstrap and Adelie penguins as it will be mating season, and seals are found in good numbers throughout these waters.

Experienced Team

Our photography team consists of some of the world’s most renowned wildlife photographers, who are all local Norwegians and considered the polar experts of their field.

Day 1

Today our photo tour commences as we depart from Ushuaia, sailing out the Beagle channel and into the Drake Passage.

Day 2

We will cross the Drake Passage and begin our journey towards Antarctica. Our photography begins almost immediately with Albatross, Petrels and many other sea birds that follow our ship as we traverse the Drake. We will have a number of briefings and lectures during the voyage in order to help us prepare for the first photography session on our Antarctica tour.

Days 4 to 12

We will be visiting some of the best areas for wildlife and landscape photography during our time in Antarctica. Areas we plan to visit include Antarctic Sound (home of gigantic tabular icebergs), the surreal Deception Island in Whalers Bay (home of rusty whaler’s remnants), Astrolabe and south toward the spectacular Lemaire channel. At this time of the year we expect areas such as the Weddell Sea and Lemaire Channel to be closed with ice but there will be many other areas for us to explore and photograph! We will take advantage of weather and light to maximise our photographic opportunities at all times, weather and ice depending.

Day 13

Our Antarctica safari of the Peninsula has sadly come to end and we make our way back to sea we head back to Ushuaia.

Day 14

Return back to Ushuaia. Transfer to the airport or your hotel where this magical voyage comes to an end.
