Today is the first day of our Patagonia photo tour! Today we will fly to El Calafate (approximately 5 hours) at a time to be advised and depending on our arrival time, we may arrange a visit to Laguna Nimez to capture their resident flamingos. Over dinner we will discuss our upcoming adventure in more detail.

Day 2: Transfer to El Chalten

We will begin our comprehensive photo safari of discovery across this vast and contrasting region, right at the shores of the massive Argentino Lake, at the picturesque town of El Calafate. We hope to have a clear day so that we can capture the colossal amphitheatre of granite peaks surrounding the lake, including the dominant peaks of the southern Andes, Mt. Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre. The driving time between El Calafate and El Chaltén is approximately 4 to 5 hours through the Patagonia Steppes but we still stop at interesting locations our Patagonia photography tour.

Day 3: Sunrise photo session Mt. Fitz Roy – Walk to Mirador Laguna Torres

This morning we will have an early start on our Patagonia photo tour to photograph the sunrise as the rays drape themselves across the omnipresent Mt. Fitz and Cerro Torre from one of the viewpoints near El Chalten. The picturesque trails found among Los Glaciares National Park attract hundreds of trekkers from all over the world and we will have the chance to explore one of them. Once we arrive at Laguna Capri, we will enjoy the commanding views of Cerro Torre, as well as the other peaks and glaciers found in this region.

Day 4: Sunrise photo session Mt. Fitz Roy – Transfer to El Calafate – Afternoon visit to Perito Moreno Glacier

After one last sunrise photo session, you will drive back towards El Calafate at midday. On your way back, we will visit a different area of Los Glaciares National Park, where from the wooden walkways you will be able to appreciate the grand Perito Moreno glacier. It is by far the most imposing glacier of the whole park, and a feature of stunning beauty! Our evening will comprise of dinner and relaxing at our hotel.

Day 5: Full day trip to Los Glaciares National Park & Perito Moreno Glacier

We will have an early start on our Patagonia photography tour as our local guide and driver drive westwards along the “Old Estancias road”. This scenic route is very interesting as it will allow us to be away from traffic and visit secluded areas of Los Glaciares National Park, many which offer breath taking views of the snowy summits of the southern Andes. We will arrive to the picturesque setting of Estancia Nibepo and here we will attend an introductory tour to the estancia facilities including an old-fashion sheep shearing demonstration, followed by a boat ride to explore the southern branch of Argentino Lake, heading towards the front of its very famous glacier, Perito Moreno Glacier. But our exploration does not stop here as we will slowly cruise the front of the glacier to admire it.

Day 6: Drive to Torres del Paine National Park

This morning our Patagonia photo tour commences in Chile as we drive to Torres del Paine.

Day 7: Puma tracking in Torres del Paine – Afternoon boat trip to Grey Glacier

Our Patagonia photography tour begins with an early start in order to be on time to photograph the Paine Massif at dawn and continues as we inspect the puma hunting grounds located in the eastern flank of the park, where we have been granted special access. We will board our boat (the M/V Grey II) for a 3-hour excursion through the icy waters of the lake towards the impressive and actively calving front of the Grey Glacier.

Day 8: Puma tracking in Torres del Paine – Exploring the eastern side of the park

Today is our last puma trekking day and the plan is to venture to their hunting grounds located in the eastern side of the park for one last photography session.

Day 9: Drive to Punta Arenas – Lunch at Hotel Remota – Condors of Rio Verde

After a delicious lunch, our Patagonia photo tour journeys to Estancia Olga Teresa in Rio Verde area 78km northwest of Punta Arenas. This farm is the most accessible location in the world to see and photograph the world’s heaviest avifauna; the majestic Andean Condor. This ranch protects, researches and showcases a population of 100 Condors and we’ll be capturing these birds between late afternoon and sunset. Once our session is done here we will drive back to Punta Arenas where we will overnight. Overnight Punta Arenas
