Day 1: Fly to Campo Grande, drive to Bonito
Today is set aside as an arrival day in Bonito. You will be collected from the airport at Campo Grande and taken on a road transfer (280km –roughly 4 hours plus) to Bonito where you will overnight and meet your ORYX Photo Tour Leader.

Day 2: Bonito and daytrip to Buraco das Araras
Today we drive around 54km to the aptly named Buraco das Araras (“Macaw’s Hole), which is a spectacular sandstone crater well over 100 metres deep, and said to have a diameter of 500 metres. En route to the massive sinkhole, we will keep a look out for the bizarre Giant Anteater as we drive through the grasslands studded with termite mounds. Buraco das Araras is an excellent place to photograph the beautiful Red-and-green Macaw, and interestingly, the lake in the bottom of the crater contains Broad-snouted Caimans. This huge sinkhole has a slightly darker side to its history, as it was used to dispose of the enemies and opponents of some of the local criminals! Depending on time in the Bonito area, (and if such a quest tickles our fancy) you may try spend some time trying to find Anacondas, which can found in clear water streams that run through dense woodland.

Day 3: Bonito to Aguapé area
Leaving Bonito, we drive via Miranda to Pousada Aguapé (around 235 km away), which is located on the edge of the Pantanal. Although it has a long history of farming, having been run by the same family for around 150 years, it has undertaken various ecotourism projects including fishing and wildlife viewing. The property is covered in a mosaic of vegetation from forests and grasslands to wetlands, and as such provides excellent habitat for a variety of mammals and birds.Tonight, we have a chance to find Ocelot, a beautiful Neotropical feline the size of a small dog, and may partake in a nightdrive this evening to search for these handsome small cats.

Days 4 to 5: Aguapé area
You have two full days at Pousada Aguapé. One of your primary reasons for visiting here is the incredible Giant Anteater –a huge insectivorous mammal that can measure over two metres long and weigh up to 40kg! Broad swathes of grassland peppered with termite mounds can be found at Pousada Aguapé –perfect habitat for the Anteater, and you will have ample time to photograph these bizarre creatures. Pousada Aguapé has other draw cards, with photogenic Crab-eating Foxes, Yellow Armadillos, Capybaras, Red-legged Seriemas and Toco Toucans providing for many hours of photographic entertainment. You may also get the chance to search for wildlife from a boat, and all in all, this promises to be a fascinating area with many intriguing photographic subjects! In the evenings, you will have a further chance to search for Ocelot while out on night drive.

Day 6: Aguapé to Campo Grande and depart
This morning you will depart Pousada Aguapé to Campo Grande, where this photo tour sadly comes to an end.
