17 April 2024 – 28 April 2024

This great nation boasts staggering geographical diversity ranging from deserts and forests to tropical, palm-lined shores and snow-capped peaks. Bewilderingly beautiful, India’s overflow of colour and variety of wildlife, people and topography are truly diverse, and it is this juxtaposition of widely varied themes that makes India so compelling. It’s a country that is as unique as the stripes on a tiger!

India is most famous for its rich wildlife and exotic cultural attractions and we have cherry picked some of the best for our Big Cats of India Photo Tour.

Why this Photo Tour is for You

Destination Allure

Our photo tour takes you to 2 iconic areas in India's famed Rajasthan; Jawai Bandh and Ranthambore National Park to photograph the India's big cats; Leopard and Bengal Tiger.

Month of Travel

Our tiger photo safari takes place at the beginning of spring when hot temperatures begin to set in. Although winter would have passed, no spring rain means foliage has not yet had time to sprout, leaving no ample shade or thick brush. Animals are more likely than not to stay near to water sources to stay cool, including Tigers!

Subjects of Interest

At Jawai, we will train our cameras on the vibrant Rabari herdsmen who have shared this land with wildlife for centuries & endorse the organic and continuing link between local culture and wildlife, along with the resident Leopard. At Ranthambore, the “Lord of the Jungle”, the Bengal Tiger, is our main photographic target as well as the variety of wildlife, including the Sloth Bear, resplendent Indian Peafowl, various antelope and if you're lucky, the elusive Leopard.

Small Group Departures

Limited to 4 individuals, this Big Cats of India photography tour can be completely tailored to your interests on a daily basis. Explore the magnificence of India in an intimate & personalised tour!

The rangers will be on the lookout for tell-tale signs such as pugmarks or scat in the road, and will be ever alert for the alarm calls of Sambar, Spotted Deer andHanuman Langur. With luck, these will lead us to a Tiger padding along a dusty track or sprawled out in the dappled sunlight. In addition to Tigers and their favourite prey species, Indian Gazelle, Jungle Cat, Striped Hyena and if we are extremely fortunate, Leopard and Sloth Bear.
