ORYX is proud to present you with a wildlife photo safari experience-of-a-lifetime to one of the most game rich safari destinations in Africa, Kenya’s celebrated Masai Mara National Reserve, with Photo Tour Leader Penny Robartes.

The annual Wildebeest migration is one of the most incredible natural history events on the planet, as an estimated 1.5 million Wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of Plains Zebra and Thomson’s Gazelle follow the rains in search of the better quality grazing. When the vast herds arrive in the Masai Mara they must ford the Mara River, creating a spectacle without parallel in the natural world!

Along with the renowned big cat sightings, there is clearly much that will keep us both inspired and in awe on this incredible Kenya photography tour.

Why this Photo Tour is for You

Destination Allure

Visit the world famous Masai Mara and witness one of the most incredible wildlife spectacles: the Great Wildebeest Migration.

Action Packed Moments

With tens of thousands of wildebeest on the move, it’s a predator’s paradise as carnivores such as Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Spotted Hyaena and Nile Crocodile are on the lookout for a meal, and predator prey interactions can be experienced on the plains and during river crossings!

Freedom to Explore

As we utilise private-use game drive vehicles, we can spend as much time out as we wish between sunrise and sundown photographing Africa at its best!

Camp

Our camp is set on a private riverside site on the banks of the mighty Mara River with close access to major river crossing sections on the Mara River.

Guided Experience

Local knowledge of the region and its wildlife is key to crafting the ultimate safari experience. Combined with the photographic expertise of your ORYX Photo Tour Leader, and you are in for an adventure that will further fuel your excitement for photography and the destination.

Days 3 to 7: Masai Mara National Reserve

The following days on our Kenya photo safari will be spent in the Masai Mara National Reserve, focussing on areas that are holding key game species and have the potential for interesting interactions and of course, special photographic opportunities. We may spend full days out in the field during our Kenya photography tour, the benefits of which include not having to return to camp for meals (on such days, we would have a delicious selection of food packed onto the vehicle) and this enables us to explore some of the areas further away from camp and otherwise inaccessible on half-day forays. Our wonderful ground team is however very flexible to our needs, and depending on weather conditions, we may have the day broken up into morning and afternoon game drives.

After our final morning drive and breakfast, we will sadly depart the Masai Mara, embarking on a scheduled flight to Wilson Airport in Nairobi. We will stop for lunch at a beautiful restaurant en-route to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where this safari concludes.
