21 May 2025 – 1 June 2025

ORYX Photo Tours is proud to present a safari tailor-made to visit some of Namibia’s most spectacular photographic areas. A country of startling contrasts our Namibia photography tour kicks off with a visit to the remarkable towering red dunes of Sossusvlei, which must surely rank as one of Namibia’s most iconic landscapes! We then spend time along the coast, where cold fogs roll off the Atlantic Ocean and nourish an incredible diversity of life (considering the inhospitable environment), much of it barely visible to the untrained eye. Heading inland, we spend a night at the impressive Spitzkoppe (landscapes and night shooting), before rounding off our Namibia photo safari focusing on Etosha National Park and surrounds for desert-adapted animals including Black Rhino, Lion and African Elephant.

Astonishing contrasts are everywhere for the visitor to savour, enjoy and photograph, so join us for what promises to be a spectacular photo tour to the African nation of Namibia!

Why this Photo Tour is for You

Destination Allure

The driest nation south of the Sahara, Namibia has a low human population, with huge expanses of the country delightfully wild and unpopulated by people. Our photo tour will place emphasis on its otherworldly landscapes and matchless wildlife photography experiences. It is truly a dream destination for a photo tour.

With a wide variety of unique birds and wildlife that have adapted to survive the harsh conditions here, we visit the world famous Etosha National Park and take advantage of its key water holes and hides for a variety of photographic moments.

With towering ochre-coloured sand dunes, vast deserts, rocky outcrops and blue skies, the iconic landscapes of Sossusvlei, Swakopmund and Spitzkoppe will be no short supply and due to its remoteness, astro-photography is bound to spell bounding!

Days 5 & 6: Drive Sossusvlei to Swakopmund, late pm Welwitschias

Our time in Sossusvlei is up, we leave for the coast as our Namibia photo safari takes us through some most desolate landscapes in southern Africa. Gravel plains, rocky hills and dune seas give way to pure sand dunes as we near the coast. During our time here we will embark on a marine mammal excursion and a night desert walk.

Day 7: Morning Living Desert tour, lunch then drive to Spitzkoppe

On the agenda, this morning on our Namibia photo safari is an excursion to find some of the fascinating inhabitants of the Namib dunes. We will again focus on macro techniques, and after this morning session and lunch, will relocate inland to the Spitzkoppe

Day 8: Early morning Spitzkoppe photography, then drive to Etosha National Park

We have some early photography this morning to take advantage of the light, where we head east and then north to Etosha National Park, where we have one night.

Days 9 to 11: Etosha National Park and Ongava Game Reserve

We will visit a few of the park's celebrated waterholes, which attract an impressive number of thirsty mammals and birds. Later in the day, we head to our lovely home for the next 3 nights. located just across the boundary of Etosha National Park, Ongava Game Reserve is a wonderful private reserve that offers very good game viewing. We have the opportunity to embark on game drives in an open vehicle, allowing us good visibility and opportunities to photograph Ongavas residents. We also have access to the hide, allowing us to photograph animals by day, and for a period in the evenings.

Day 12: Drive Ongava to Windhoek, dayroom at River Crossing Lodge and depart

Today our Namibia photo tour comes to a finish, as we leave Ongava early and drive back to Windhoek.
