Why this Photo Tour is for You

Destination Allure

MalaMala Game Reserve is a sought-after destination for all wildlife and nature photography enthusiasts. The variety and density of wildlife combined with their habituated manner allows good time spent with and personal photographic explorations with all our subjects.

Month of Travel

Our Photo Tour takes place in May which is one of the best months to photograph wildlife. As this month falls under our Winter season, the dense bush is thinned out and water sources become more scarce. This makes wildlife viewing and photography easier and wildlife movements more predictable.

Photographic Subjects

The Sabi Sands is world-renown for its incredible Big 5 sightings, notably its rosetted-cats, the alluring Leopard! Relaxed and habituated, encounters with these cats are widely and favourably known and sought-after. African Wild Dog, Cheetah and other predators are found here too.

Women Only

Whether solo or traveling with another, joining a tour filled with other independent, creative women is motivating and empowering as you share, learn and create experiences, memories and photographs together.

Guided Experience

Local knowledge of the region and its wildlife is key to crafting the ultimate photography tour experience. Combined with the photographic expertise of your ORYX Photo Tour Leader, and you are in for an adventure that will further fuel your excitement for photography and the destination.

Today is an exciting day as you fly from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg to Skukuza Airport. Here you will be met by Penny and the rest of your tour members. Days 2 to 6: MalaMala Game Reserve

No other destination can compete with the photographic opportunities on offer at MalaMala. The reserve is famous for predator sightings, especially of Leopard! MalaMala’s Leopards are so accustomed to the safari vehicles that they hardly take any notice of them, even when hunting. Aside from Leopard, the reserve often produces Cheetah sightings, while Lion and Spotted Hyaena are common, and the sought after African Wild Dog is often seen on the property. What sets MalaMala apart is that ability to photograph in twilight and into the first hours of darkness, allowing you to capture evocative images of predators in the environment that they feel most at home in – the darkness.

Day 7: Road transfer to Skukuza and depart

This morning’s game drive will offer us our last chance to explore and capture the wildlife of this inspiring destination. We will return to camp to freshen up before departing on our game drive transfer to Skukuza Airport. This is sadly where your journey with us comes to an end, and concludes our “Women on Safari” journey!
