This Womens only tour begins in an area of the Delta is that covered with palm, mangosteen and fig trees. Kwetsani is located in the centre of the Jao Concession and its the surrounding floodplain is home to some key wildlife species that are found in few other places on Earth, amongst the highly sought-after species.

Our next and final destination on our photographic journey is as inspiring as the first as we travel to the northern reaches of the Okavango Delta to a beautiful island in a private concession. Little Vumbura is an intimate camp shaded by the canopy of an ancient forest and surrounded by water as it lies close to large rivers. Offering a combination of both water- and land-based activities, Little Vumbura is a spectacular and diverse wildlife area with sightings that are on par with the very best.

Why this Womens Photo Safari is for You

Destination Allure

The Okavango Delta has long been sought after by travellers, photographers and videographers alike for many years due to raw, wild beauty and incredible wildlife experiences that are hard to match. A montage of wetland, savanna, woodland and water, the diversity in habitats and wildlife is truly breathtaking.

Women Only

Whether solo or traveling with another, joining a tour filled with other independent, creative women is motivating and empowering as you share, learn and create experiences, memories and photographs together.

Month of Travel

The Delta is a year-round safari destination that offers its travellers different experiences in all of its seasons. May falls in the first half of the Dry season, allowing us to experience the lush life of the Delta vegetation without the heat that is experienced towards the end of the Dry Season. We may experience dramatic skies as backdrops for our images. May is the last month of the low season rates, which is less costly than traveling during high/peak season. Get ready to capture the last remaining colours of the Delta summer!

Botswana is a photo safari destination par excellence that offers an incredible wilderness experience and plays host to some of the finest locations for photography of Africa’s wildlife. Photograph Lion, Spotted Hyena, Elephant, Leopard, African Wild Dog, Cheetah, Cape Buffalo and other treasures in this wildlife saturated area.

Guided Experience

Local knowledge of the region and its inhabitants is key to crafting the ultimate photography tour experience. Combined with the photographic expertise of your ORYX Photo Tour Leader, and you are in for an adventure that will further fuel your excitement for photography and the destination.

Day 2 & 3: Okavango Delta

The Okavango Delta is probably Botswana’s single most famous game area. Little Vumbura is a camp that offers both water and land-based activities, and which is fast building a reputation as one of the best game viewing destinations in the Okavango Delta.  The annually flooded grasslands of the Okavango Delta surrounding Little Vumbura are locally referred to as 'melapo' and offer seasonal viewing of Elephant, Giraffe, Impala, Sable Antelope, Greater Kudu, Plains Zebra, Common Waterbuck, Reedbuck, Tsessebe, Blue Wildebeest and the handsome plains associated Red Lechwe. Sightings of Hippo and Crocodile are common in the waterways. Predators include the sought-after African Wild Dog, Leopard, and several resident prides of Lion, Cheetah and African Wild Cat. The resident pack of African Wild Dog known as the Golden Pack often roam the area and are seen frequently on Impala, Common Reedbuck and Kudu kills. Large herds of Cape Buffalo also move through the Concession.

Days 4: Little Vumbura to Kwetsani

Our next leg of the journey begins this day as we bid farewell to the incredible Little Vumbura. At a time to be advised by camp management, we will be transferred to the airstrip for our circuit light aircraft transfer from Little Vumbura to Kwetsani. After settling in, exploring our new camp surroundings and having either lunch for high tea, our afternoon game drive in the Jao Concession begins.

Days 5 & 6: Okavango Delta

Situated in the very heart of the wetlands of the Okavango Delta, the Jao Concession embodies all the magic and mystique of Botswana with vegetation that varies from permanent swamps to dry land. With its diverse habitats come diverse wildlife species, and we will spend the next 2 days photographing the beasts and birds that call these areas home, The Okavango Delta has such a unique, iconic habitat which is easily identifiable. Our images will look at capturing the whole "story" of your journey, from animal in environment images to portraits. Remember to take photographs of your travel partners too to share with the team!

Day 7: Flight Kwetsani to Maun. End
